Patagonia High Endurance Kit

For the past two years Patagonia have been developing an integrated mountain running kit inspired by athlete’s Clare Gallagher and Luke Nelson. The collection includes six pieces that create a modular system for changing atmospheric conditions that you might encounter in high elevation. Packable shell, inner hoodie shirt, running vest, shorts and pants round out the specialized items with a shirt that can truly work in any condition.

The Airshed Pullover is the stand out piece as it works as a shield layer, designed to be worn under the Endurance Vest which is an essential when venturing into the mountains and clocking longer miles. The vest provides almost all of the storage in the system as a sort of centre point for how the base layer, pullover and Storm Racer Jacket work around. At seven-ounces, the three-layer fully waterproof design, features Patagonia’s H2No technology in the shell, with a unique zip-design providing access to the vest storage. While I don’t often run in pants, the shorts have received very positive reviews, with their hybrid short-tight design.

Patagonia is a staple in the outdoors but they haven’t been know as innovators when it comes to running. This collection is a small step in that direction that will likely inspire mountain running, while keeping some of their core standards in play as all of the items are Fair Trade Certified sewn and comprised of varying amounts of recycled materials.

The High Endurance Kit is an integrated system, designed with input from Patagonia athletes Clare Gallagher and Luke Nelson, made for drastic elevation and temperature changes, and circumstances that toe the line between running and climbing.
