It’s Time to Adopt a Biomimicry Frame of Mind

Biomimicry is the conscious emulation of nature's genius. Nature is the master designer of all living beings on earth, and our creation capacity as humans is a mere fraction of nature's. Oddly enough, we see ourselves as the superior all-knowing species and label unknown nature as wild. At Biomimicry Frontiers, we are creating solutions to integrate back into nature's harmony by tapping into her genius.
We are developing Canada’s first circular economy in a partnership with the City of Guelph in Ontario by applying insights from nature at the systems level. We are working together with community stakeholders and testing a hyperlocal patch system to reduce waste streams and stimulate a circular economy.
The Lagi Fly Ranch project was founded on the concept of death. Something omnipresent in nature and around us, and the fundamental resource for life regeneration. This is a generative design proposal that seeks to navigate the cycles of life and death infinitely.
Throughout nature's perfect creations, there are repeating patterns of math and science. Nature has engineered a beautiful complexity we are yet to fully grasp objectively, but many have felt it in moments of aliveness, or flow states. This innate sensing and fine-tuning with nature is what we call inner biomimicry.
Many of us have felt the transcendent and beautiful harmony of nature when we are fully aware and present within it. This sensing is a powerful skill for abstracting insights from nature. The Inspired By Nature course helps you build this innate capability. It's a frame of mind that helps to speak with nature and translate her insights into better ways of doing things - more sustainable, resilient, and often beautiful strategies for all sorts of challenges.
The course brings together creatives, entrepreneurs, and leaders from different backgrounds looking to build from a paradigm that sets apart from the status quo. The diversity of people in the course allows the emergence of collective wisdom and explorations in which students experience the process of applying biomimicry and how it can change the way they think and create.
This eight-week journey includes videos, guidebooks, and weekly tutorial sessions that go over the tools taught and spark discussions about challenges that students bring to the table.
The principles and teachings from nature can be applied to any challenge. It's about time we honor the inspiration source for the forward-thinking concepts shifting our societies towards a more sustainable planet: Passive design, circular economies, decentralization are all concepts that are rooted in natural systems and their organisms. Our motivation is to inspire hope from a time-tested mentor and spread the tools and mindset to shift systems by applying nature's genius to your professional or personal challenges.
