Episode 04: David Sutcliffe—Core Energetics, Holding Space and Killing his Mom

David Sutcliffe is our first guest on Into the Well podcast. Ryan met David upon moving to Los Angeles in 2017, both Canadian transplants who have since gone through spiritual transformations. On the episode David shares how he got into acting, and then out of it more recently. His first deep emotional experience at the Esalen Institute in a Radical Aliveness workshop led by Ann Bradley. Since that workshop David has continued to explore break-work, cold exposure, plant medicines and a deepening connection to Lakota native American traditions and their reverence for suffering. David talks about holding space in his core energetics workshops, moving to Idyllwild and his recent documentary work.

I think that’s the whole game. You’re going to get triggered, you’re going to feel sad, you’re going to be overcome by rage at times, but how quickly can you come back to centre, and not judge yourself for it.
