While Salomon was founded in 1947, the French outdoor brand has continued to innovate over the decades, recently releasing their more sleek Advanced range that combined minimal design with functional running and lifestyle design. The XA-Alpine 2 ADV Sneakers are crafted from a technical blend fabrication in a water resistant weave protective gaiter to keep debris out of the shoe and a Contagrip® sole with varied lugs with good spacing and wet traction ready for snow, mud or loose terrain.
With winter approaching, the mountains look even more appealing but to take them on appropriate footwear is a must. The updated XA-Alpine is built to handle the elements while providing mobility and stability in a lightweight off-road eater for maximum performance for unpredictable environments. The bottom unit is inspired by the S/Lab Sense, which is lightweight, hugs the foot providing surprising comfort with the necessary protection.

When I got back into walking and hiking especially after my ACL surgery, I got myself a pair of trekking poles to aid in the ascents and descents, providing support and stability but also an aspect of power. I've often seen ultra runners use poles and been curious about how to properly use them while traveling at quicker speeds, fortunately Salomon have a short instructional video that highlights a few techniques for different levels.
